TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 01 ~ ARRIVAL AMRITSAR AIRPORT ~ ~ HOTEL & LOCAL SIGHTSEEING OF AMRITSAR
Tour guests will arrive at Amritsar Airport as per their scheduled flight. Upon arrival, meet your Chauffeur at the airport and proceed to hotel. Today we proceed to Amritsar local sightseeing. First we visited Jallianwala Bagh – a historic garden and memorial of national importance preserved in the memory of those who were killed in the Jallianwala Massacre that happened on 13th April 1919 and the Partition Museum – world's first Museum dedicated to the Partition of 1947. On afternoon transfer to Attari Wagah Border (subject to operation) – to witness the prestigious lowering of the flags ceremony daily military practice that the security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed since 1959. Later in the evening. Visit - Golden Temple – also known as Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib is the holiest Gurdwara and the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism, here we also see Akal Takht – throne of immortal and highest seat of authority of Khalsa. Golden temple at night is certainly a treat for the eyes & soul. We then have free time for shopping. Overnight stay in Amritsar Hotel.
DAY 02 : AMRITSAR - - KATRA ( 250 KM – 05 HRS 30 MIN DRIVE)
Morning after breakfast transfer by road from Amritsar to Katra (Jammu).Welcome to Jammu, the winter capital of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The base point of Vaishnodevi. Arrive in Katra and check into your hotel. Rest of the evening will be free for leisure. Overnight stay at Katra.
DAY 03 : DARSHAN OF MATA VAISHNO DEVI
After breakfast in Katra hotel we proceed towards Sanjichhat once you are freshened up. A helicopter will be waiting for you near your hotel. Upon reaching Sanjichhat, resume the journey on foot and reach the Maa Vaishnodevi temple.
Carry your boarding pass so that the authorities can allow you to visit the temple. Experience the divinity of the place and bow your head in reverence in front of the 3 Pindis which symbolize the three mother goddesses Maha Kali, Maha Saraswati, and Mahalaxmi. We return to Sanjichhat to board a helicopter that will take us back to Katra. You can buy some Prasad for your friends and family members from the local Prasad shop. In the evening, return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Katra Hotel.
Note : Helicopter is subject to availability. In case guest did not get helicopter tickets then guest has to do Darshan by the trekking of Maa Vaishno Devi Bhawan.
DAY 04 : KATRA - - PAHALGAM - VIA PATNITOP - DISTANCE - 370 KM – 11 Hrs DRIVE APPROX
Today very early morning after breakfast, leave from KATRA and drive to Pahalgam. On the way you will see Patnitop is covered with thick deodars forest. Driving through these woods, You feel winter in the air. After Patnitop you will go through Jawahar Tunnel. It is also known as Banihal Tunnel and was first opened in 1956. Finally by evening you will reach Pahalgam which is the most famous place for Indian Film Industry. Overnight stay in Pahalgam Hotel.
DAY 05 : PAHALGAM LOCAL SIGHTSEEING - - SRINAGAR - DISTANCE - 90 KM – 03 Hrs DRIVE APPROX
Morning after breakfast explore the Pahalgam local sightseeing. In Pahalgam do some nature walks to unwind ourselves. Later on proceed to Srinagar. This road connects the Valley to the rest of the country. We drive past the saffron fields of Pampore, the marvellous ruins of Avantipura and the village of Bijbehara which remains famous as the bread basket of Kashmir.
You can even sample a few exotic breads sold by vendors near the road. We switch the the national highway at Khanabal and drive through the second largest city of Anantnag. From here the road turns scenic as we drive parallel on the Lidder river flowing from the opposite direction. On arrival check in into hotel overnight stay in Srinagar.
Note - Srinagar Taxi is not authorized to do the local sightseeing of Pahalgam ( For Aru,Betab & Chandanwari). So guests have to book a local taxi union car for Pahalgam local sightseeing.
DAY 06 : SRINAGAR - - DAY TRIP GULMARG - DISTANCE - 52 KM – 01 Hrs 30 Min DRIVE APPROX
After breakfast in the morning, we will begin our country tour towards Gulmarg. We arrive at a small picturesue market town of Tangmarg and drive ahead on a scenic drive of 14 kilometers to Gulmarg. Later we will begin a short tour around the meadow familarising ourselves with the beauty.
In Gulmarg we will board the Gondola cable (Guest own cost) car system, and ascend towards the Afarwatt Mountain range. The 08 minutes of ropeway will take you past colorful shepherd hutments to the lower ridge of the Afarwatt peak. From here you can click lots of photos of the nearby mountain ranges that stand tall like sentinels guarding the rich natural beauty of Kashmir valley. We descend back to Gulmarg base after an hour or so and later do some horse-riding to the strawberry valley.
After visiting Gulmarg drive back to Srinagar overnight stay in Srinagar.
DAY 07 - SRINAGAR - - DAY TRIP SONMARG - 80 KM APPROX 02 HRS DRIVE
We begin our day with a sumptous breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we will drive to the majestic mountain resort of Sonamarg. The route towards Sonamarg takes us on a picturesque country side drive where we will come across rolling hills, green forests, clear water streams and blooming rice fields. We will zoom past the town of Kangan which handles all the local needs of this region.
On arrival at Sonmarg visit - Vishansar Lake, Nilagrad River, White River Rafting at Shutkari Bridge at your own cost. In Sonamarg we will take a 3 hour walk or horseback trip (Guest own cost) to the Thajwass glacier. After Sonmarg sightseeing come back to Srinagar. Overnight stay in Srinagar.
Note - Srinagar Taxi is not authorized to do the local sightseeing of Sonmarg. So guests have to book a local taxi union car for Sonmarg local sightseeing.
DAY 08 - SRINAGAR - - LOCAL SIGHTSEEING
Today after breakfast, you have an option for a city tour for half a day. Take a cab and visit places such as :-
Nishat Bagh - Located on the bank of the Dal Lake, with the Zaberwan Mountains as its backdrop, Nishat Bagh is a garden of bliss that commands a magnificent view of the lake beneath the snow capped Pir Panjal mountain range that stands far away to the west of the valley. The Bagh was designed and built in 1633 by Asif Khan, elder brother of Nur Jehan.
The famous Mughal Gardens – Mughal Gardens in Srinagar are basically the gardens that were built during the reign on Mughal Emperors. Influenced heavily by the concept of Persian Gardens or the char bagh, these gardens drew heavily upon Persian style of architecture. Constructing Mughal Gardens was the most beloved pastime of the Mughal imperials.
Shalimar Bagh – The Shalimar Bagh is the celebrated royal garden of Kashmir. The Emperor Jahangir was so fascinated with the garden that he called it "one of the sights of Kashmir." Shalimar Bagh is located on the northeast side of Lake Dal, approximately fifteen kilometres away from the centre of Srinagar. It was laid out by Jahangir as Farah Baksh ("the delightful") in 1619, while he was founding the city of Srinagar. Afterward, you can head to the Shankaracharya Temple at the top of a hill and return to the hotel in the evening and a peaceful overnight stay in Hotel.
DAY 09 : SRINAGAR HOTEL - - SRINAGAR AIRPORT - - CATCH FLIGHT FOR HOME
After breakfast check out and transfer to Srinagar airport for your journey back home with memories of your trip. It’s time now to say goodbye.
